Apologetics thread Anonymous 03/28/2022 (Mon) 15:39:16 No.6837
>Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. (2 Tim. 4:2) Post information (books, links, images, etc.) that defend the truth of Christianity, explain difficult to understand scripture passages, answer anti-Christian arguments, and other things of that nature.
https://isjesusalive.com/ is a website devoted to defending the resurrection of Jesus, run by Erik Manning. He also runs a general apologetics YouTube channel called Testify. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCadiEsTZ0hNxs5OxwGiyELQ Some videos include: >Is Paul's Gospel at Odds with Jesus' Teaching? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Dfhut1Wg1A >Yes, Tacitus Mentions The Historical Jesus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FthcqR1d4hI >Jesus' Birth Stories Aren't "Irreconcilably Different" (Holy Koolaid Response) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGGsmcklGaM >Why Hume's Argument Against Miracles Fails https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQMrhXuoL-k
Islam Critiqued is a YouTube channel mostly devoted to criticizing Islam from a Christian perspective. However, they also have videos defending the Bible from Muslim accusations. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcKkCtaMM1wjY1BXyoW8_-w Some of their videos: >Muslims' Worst anti-Christian Polemics: Corruption of the New Testament https://youtu.be/FM1MlSsUaYE >Did Matthew Know Hebrew? The Immanuel Oracle in Isaiah 7:14 https://youtu.be/Lup5uETRk7k >Was Mary a Child When Joseph Married Her? https://youtu.be/B6Qx38m3olE >Blundering Theology: A Response to Blogging Theology on Isaiah 53 https://youtu.be/1GTvA2bzJto
https://reasons.org Dual-Revelation, weak-concordism, science apologetics ministry, uniquely positioned to reach out to intellectuals today. They've been going strong for over 35 years, and I've met them all personally. Literally can't recommend them more highly in this domain.
>>6840 I just discovered this channel the other day! I have to recommend this video as well - it is defending Isaac from the accusation from Muslims that Rebekah was a three year old when he married her. Typical Muslim pedophilia apologism: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFK6cW-P9QU
https://triablogue.blogspot.com/ Famous blog project, from before web 2.0, on variety of topics by a group of fine, Reformed men from the Westminster Seminary. The most prominent of writers is Steve Hays, a monster of the blogging sphere and giant of a thinker. Taken by the Lord unto Himself in 2020. Rest in the Lord's peace and may he find his cutie pie French waifu.* *Steve Hays never married and leaned toward the idea that marriage existed post-mortem and post-resurrection. He wrote a story considering this idea and more, elements of which are clearly autobiographical and a description of a NERD girl that's clearly his waifu matieral. https://triablogue.blogspot.com/2008/11/holodeck-heaven.html
>>6943 Forgot to mention that the PDF is his autobiography, which shows his writing style perfectly and why apologetics must be personal.

A few images: 1. Proof of the Trinity from scripture. 2. Scriptural proof God always wanted to include the Gentiles (and that the Bible isn't "Jewish supremacy"). 3. The oft-misused "Not peace but a sword" passage in context. 4. Analysis of when Jeuss called the Canaanite woman "dog".

According to the Scriptures, the Messiah Would Rise https://rakovskii.livejournal.com/8900.html This is a great list of articles analyzing Old Testament prophecy, proving that the Old Testament predicts Jesus. It's defenitely worth a read.

Interesting post I found with commentary on Luke 14:26 ("Hate father and mother...") from the early Church. https://www.city-data.com/forum/christianity/3310294-how-ancient-christians-read-hate-father.html

Here are a couple of Christian FAQ lists: >Objections - Subject Index (rationalchristianity) A fairly simple website that relies mostly on the Bible for it's support. http://rationalchristianity.net/apol_index.html >Over-dex of Objections (christianthinktank) A very old website with an absolute ton of academic citations. Very wordy (and kinda hard to navigate) but still worth a read. https://www.christianthinktank.com/objedex.html >Frequently Asked Questions about Christianity (kingdavid8) Another very old website. Geared more towards the layman, and as a result much more casual than the others. https://web.archive.org/web/20040504070258/http://www.kingdavid8.com/FAQs/Home.html
After delivering the book of Revelation, members from all around the Church came to see John and get his story from his time with Jesus. The Gospel of John was written in 97 AD and that's 60 years after Jesus, therefore John was just making stuff up. What people fail to understand is, obviously John didn't just suddenly have to remember what it was like to be with Jesus decades ago. Those three years with Jesus he would have been thinking and telling others about his whole life. The Gospel of John was just routine to him by that point.
