The protagonist's mom used to go around cleansing curses along with Kiriha and now the protagonist takes over that role. Elemental Gelade is a kid's action show where the central conceit is a transparent, albeit G rated, analogy for sex (some women have the ability to turn into powerful weapons which are used by men). It has a fairly standard love triangle arc from around episodes 17 - 20. However, there's a bit of a twist which gives it a strangely queany vibe for a kids show. Glasses and Kuudere here both like generic Aryan shonen protagonist (GASP). GASP has been following Kuudere around and protecting her since episode 1, but she's both a cold fish and trapped in a G rated show so not much comes of it beyond a few almost confessions and almost kisses. Then Glasses basically throws herself at the guy. The whole thing comes to a head in episode 19 where Glasses straight up asks Kuudere to her face if it's OK to take the guy and Kuudere not only says it's OK but even admits that he might prefer Glasses. (1) There's then quite a few scenes where Glasses makes a show of being close to GASP in front of everyone as Kuudere looks dejected off to the side. (2) Just when you think you know who's getting cucked they're attacked by a random monster and Kuudere effortlessly shows that she's a much, much more powerful weapon than Glasses. Finally, Kuudere takes GASP's first kiss like it's nothing while Glasses watches despondently from the bushes. (3)

Only very tangentially related but I know people here are into robot girls; I would recommend Plastic Memories. It's only one 13 episode season. No cuckqueaning in it but elements of the plot made me think about it. It's set in the near future and the MC joins a company that creates androids. The catch is that androids only live about 9 years and then have to have their personality wiped or they go crazy. The team he joins is a mix of humans and androids and their job is to go in pairs (one human and one android) and retrieve androids near the end of their lifespan. He falls in love with the android girl he is paired with. You know from the beginning that the girl is supposed to die soon. There is a moment in the last episode where she is talking about what his future will be like in a few years and mentions he will probably have a new girlfriend by then. It made me think it would be nice if she set him up with a girl she thought would be good for him or recommended he go after a particular girl. There's one human girl on the staff who is like an exact expy of Asuka from NGE, except she is only tsundere in the sense that she acts like she isn't concerned about the couple getting along when really she wants badly for them to be happy together. Anyway it won't take you long to watch and it's a pretty sweet story so you may as well give it a shot if you're looking for something.

New anime: The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter It's not an isekai but uses the same sort of fantasy setting and the same tropes (overpowered MC, harem, etc.). Which is good; I never really got the point of making the character from our world when often it is irrelevant to the plot. Anyway the protagonist is a noble but in the lowest rung of nobility, the baronetcy. When it starts his 'only' power is omniscience but he gets a huge headache every time he tries to use it. His buxom best friend tells him she read an account of another man with the same power who felt better when he kissed his wives every time the headache occurred (wives plural, so polygyny is on the table!). So of course he tries that with her. He uses his power to discover a dungeon which another girl is chained up in and can't leave. She transfers all her power to him making him OP. She explains to him that every time he uses these powers it will deplete something called Life Points. If these run out, he will die. Doing things that give him pleasure will build up his Life Points. Including gaining wealth, eating delicious food, and of course sexual pleasure. So basically the plot mandates him living like a hedonist if he wants to use his powers without dying. He ends up joining the adventurer's academy with the best friend, who is a higher ranked noble. Another snobbier noble girl who looks down on him joins their party. And of course there are other girls; his sister has a crush on him, and apparently a receptionist girl will too. There's a new isekai anime out called How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom. The premise is that an impoverished fantasy kingdom is in debt to an empire which is fighting off demons on the behalf of the whole continent. The indebted kingdom summons a hero from earth with the intention of giving him over to the empire in lieu of money. The hero ends up solving their economic problems instead, and the king is so impressed that he abdicates his throne to the hero and offers him his daughter's hand in marriage. The daughter starts out reluctant but ends up falling for him, as do a number of other girls. In the manga, it explains how polygamy is acceptable to their culture, with up to 8 wives. The light novel's plot is way ahead of the manga, and in that he apparently has 5 wives already. One of whom has antlers. Anyway, it's probably worth a watch. It stands out from other isekais because the focus is more on politics and civilization-building than just fighting.

Okay, finished episode 4 of カノジョも彼女 and I was expecting utter trash we'd have to struggle through but hot damn is it way better than it has any right to be. We found ourselves really loving how retardedly honest and straightforward both Nagoya and Nagisa are in contrast to the (slightly) more normal Saki; I don't think this comedic setup could work without those personalities at play. I found this inversion of the typical brash, violent anime love interest very refreshing. One thing you don't normally see from these kind of girls in anime is self-awareness or insecurity (hell, almost nobody ever addresses the question of what a girl brings to a relationship), but I thought they managed to pull off Saki's crisis quite well. Also, concealing the fact that they were neighbors until Saki's running-away scene made me laugh out loud. Naoya trying to get through to Saki by brute force was very in-character while still echoing the clueless but cute way many guys try to go about romance. I also liked that they showed Nagisa's temptation to take advantage of the situation to keep Naoya for herself but ultimately knew that his not giving up on Saki was a manifestation of the determination and honesty that made him attractive to her in the first place. Somehow these characters manage to be both utterly retarded for comedic purposes while being quite believable in ways that resonate. I know that there has to be difficulty to keep the story interesting, that it'd be tedious to keep having the two girlfriends be the source of those difficulties, and someone unwanted trying to get into the relationship is a nice twist on the expected "someone's gonna discover us and be hostile to the relationship" problem, but still... all this stuff with blondie's got a tad overwrought. The preview showed the next ep will be about her too, so I'm going to endure and hope. Does anyone else find the little background details of Saki and Nagisa getting more comfortable and familiar with each other as co-girlfriends to be really cute? It feels like there's some serious commitment to depicting an actual polygynous relationship underneath the comedy. I just wish Naoya didn't get beaten up quite so much. They don't want anyone to know they were a couple, so they come up with a rule where if one of them acts in a way inappropriate for a sibling they are designated the 'little' brother/sister and have to do something for the other one. It's very cute and a little kinky. I thought the third episode was pretty cucky where the girl is visualizing her ex with another girl. There's also a female friend of the main girl who wants to date/marry her step-brother (but her reason for wanting that is to get closer to the girl, for borderline lesbian reasons).

Call of the Night's main heroines are a regular messy black haired girl and a vampire. Here's a scene from episode 4.

I've been enjoying Engage Kiss a lot. It's a sci-fi action/romance show with supernatural elements. It has a love triangle which is not exactly cuckquean (the two girls are rivals and mostly don't get along) but it has an interesting dynamic to it I think people here would appreciate. The main character, Shu, hunts demons and he lives with a pink-haired yandere demon girl, Kisara. Her rival is his blue-haired ex-gf Ayano. However, the interesting part is that whenever Shu wants to call upon Kisara's supernatural powers, she has to 'eat' some of his memories, which she does by kissing him. So he no longer has those memories of his own past, but Kisara now has them. And she has been eating his fond memories of his ex-gf Ayano. So his relationship with her has suffered as he has forgotten their times together, but Kisara's attitude towards Ayano has softened somewhat as she's experienced Shu's happy memories of her. So now a lot of the tender moments Ayano once shared with Shu, she only shares with Kisara. In episode 5, Shu and Ayano have sex. They're also not able to look at each other during the sex due to a situation with a demon that could enter the reflection of their eyes which adds an interesting element of denial to it. But also Ayano knows Kisara will later eat these memories and discover they've had sex, so in a way, she's also taunting her with it. So hopefully you can see the emotional and fetishistic potential in a setup like this. Oh, and episode 6 introduces a blonde nun with thicc thighs.

'The Maid I Hired Recently is Mysterious'. A straight shota bait show by the creator of 'The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated'. It's about a sexy maid moving in with a boy who's alone in his mansion after his parents die in an accident. In episode 3 the maid Lilith cucks the loli Tsukasa with the shota Yuuri. Bisexual dream sequence in episode 6 of 'The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World'. I thought it was notable because I've never seen a fantasy harem anime where a member of the harem was implied to be bi before. The show follows all the isekai cliches (not technically an isekai though), but does a few things better, like making the MC knowingly charismatic rather than clueless.

Maybe, but aren’t there plenty of confident male leads written by men (Grisaia’s Yuuji or various Key men come to mind) and blank male leads written by women (see also: most otome)? Likewise girls crushing on romantic rivals/harem-mates, which has been around for a while (though it’s getting more common now). I think that if there is a difference to be drawn between what the sexes produce it will be in how that confidence or blankness is expressed and to what uses it is put. This male lead here for example strikes me as being confident but in a very easily-written way, though obviously judging a character from two short clips isn’t going to be accurate. I gather that the show isn’t slapstick comedy either, which is the genre that our “typical” image of the harem protagonist has been formed from (mostly because of historical quirks in the industry at the time manga/anime importing took off), so naturally the male lead won’t act in a way necessary to set up slapstick gags. Aside, I wonder whether we might overemphasise cliches, whether they might be more about saving our own mental energy and memory than remembering the work itself. In game reviewing, for example, you’ll often hear about “the typical JRPG plot”, which is said to involve rescuing princesses and saving the world with a bright-eyed group of youths bound together by the power of friendship, and how because this plot is ubiquitous the game under review is refreshingly original. Problem is that I’ve never played a JRPG with that plot or those characters. Where is it? The old JRPGs I’ve played had wild plots and settings so it can’t be them. It’s as though the exaggerated average of these elements has formed an imaginary game in everyone’s minds that exists when they need it to. Not to say these don’t form patterns that trend and get tiresome, just that it’s worth thinking about whether we’re over-remembering the repeating elements in favour of what was around them so that we can claim something is different. The handles around thoughts become more important than the thoughts themselves, in other words. Overall, would you say Iceblade Sorcerer’s worth watching?

In most shows like this I've seen the protagonist has girls fling themselves at him but he either doesn't notice or acts overly flustered. I also don't really recall girls in this type of show explicitly lusting after their harem-mates. Maybe admiring their beauty or teasingly groping them in the obligatory hot springs episode, but not in such an explicitly bisexual way. I enjoyed the show but I'd only recommend it if you like this type of show in general. I'd put it slightly above average. Definitely not the best in the genre but it stands out a bit for the reasons I mentioned and it has it's moments.

Her shy irl classmate, Kanoko, who has a crush on Hime, secretly follows her to work. Hime is forced to pretend she doesn't know Kanoko to avoid mixing reality with the fantasy. Her 'onee-san' at the cafe then flirts with her in front of Kanoko, to devastating effect.

My One-Hit Kill Sister. Anime about a boy, Asahi, who gets isekai'd, and whose obsessed brocon sister, Maya, follows him to the other world. First clip is the disguised demon girl Kilmaria flirting with him, making the adventurer's guild receptionist, Tanya, jealous. Second clip, Kilmaria tries the same thing on Maya and gets caught.
